Livelong’s history

Livelong is a hamlet in the Rural Municipality of Mervin No. 499, reached by Highway 795. Turtle Lake lies about six miles to the north, and the Turtle Lake Watershed group works to keep the lake's watershed healthy.

In 1988 the community raised a war memorial cenotaph in front of the Livelong Legion #192, in memory of all veterans of Livelong and district. Bill Rhode, Sam Rhode and Murray Kopp built it, Art Dorval made the cross, and Chief Denny erected it.

Today Livelong has St. John's Anglican Church, a curling club and the Livelong Pinetoppers. The community also appears in books: Byrna Barclay's 2004 short story collection Girl at the Window begins in Livelong, and Edna Alford, a Livelong resident, wrote The Garden of Eloice Loon.
